AEI 302 Interpreting Skills I

This skills-based course introduces and applies the foundational processes of American Sign Language – English interpreting. Students begin by developing consecutive interpreting skills and gradually build up to rudimentary simultaneous interpreting. Students begin developing self-evaluation techniques and professional soft skills that are directly related to the interpreting profession. Independent engagement with the Deaf community is required. Classroom instruction is supported by individualized observation and feedback. (4 credit hours)
