Students in the Major are required to be exposed to a significant immersive experience where the Spanish language and the Spanish-speaking culture are central. The faculty in the Spanish program, in conjunction with the college, strongly suggest that this is a Study Abroad experience. As an alternative, the Spanish faculty, in conjunction with the College, will help and work with students to find and make sure that, if they do not study abroad, their immersive experience is significant enough towards their understanding of Spanish speaking communities. Arrangements for study at foreign institutions are described under Education Abroad in this catalog.
