Conferral of Degrees

Commencement exercises are held annually at the close of the spring semester. Degrees are conferred at the May commencement only for students who have completed all graduation requirements.
Students who have not completed all degree requirements by the end of the spring semester will be scheduled to participate in the commencement ceremony the following academic year.
However, students can petition to participate in the current year’s commencement if they meet all of the following conditions:

1. They have fewer than 12 credit hours remaining to complete their degree.
2. They submit a Degree Completion Plan, approved by their academic advisor, outlining how and when the remaining requirements will be fulfilled.
3. The approved plan is submitted to the Registrar’s Office at least three weeks prior to the commencement ceremony.

Degrees will be officially conferred upon completion of all requirements in May, August, or December. Students may participate in commencement exercises only once, during the academic year in which they complete their degree requirements or are approved to participate early under this policy.
