Readmission

Readmission
Students who leave the College for any reason must apply and be accepted for readmission. The Committee on Academic Standing considers applications for readmission.

Application Deadline: A complete application for readmission, including all necessary documentation, must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar at least two weeks before the first day of classes for the desired academic term. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered for the term and students will have to resubmit for a subsequent term. This deadline is meant to give students plenty of time to complete all necessary readmission tasks, including housing, financial aid, registration, and more.

Readmission Requirements: Students must submit the following documentation:

Readmission Application including a clear explanation of the reasons for departure and evidence of resolution of the issues. This may include details on work experience, community involvement, or other educational pursuits. Students should also state their academic and personal goals upon readmission, as well as a plan outlining how they intend to achieve success and address any previous challenges. The Readmission application is available on the Registrar's Office website.

Official transcript from EACH college or university attended since leaving Maryville College.

For students who were suspended: If you attended another college, official transcripts demonstrating successful academic performance (a GPA of 2.5 or higher) in relevant coursework. If you have not attended another college, a letter from an employer who can speak to the habits, work ethic, and personal growth you have demonstrated that suggest readiness for college-level academic work.

For students who took a medical withdrawal: Current and comprehensive documentation from a licensed healthcare professional, confirming the nature of the condition, its management or resolution, and a professional opinion that the student is ready for a full-time academic environment.

Note: The Committee on Academic Standing (CAS) will not consider applications from students who have a hold on their account for a balance with the Business Office or for a conduct issue. These holds should be cleared before students submit readmission applications.

Catalog Year Policy: Upon readmission, the student's catalog year will be determined by the number of credit hours completed toward their degree through their last active term.

• If a student has completed a minimum of 60 credit hours or the equivalent of half the coursework applicable toward the degree, they may choose to follow the College requirements from their most recent matriculation's academic catalog (provided the curriculum is still offered) or the new admit term's catalog.

• If a student has completed fewer than 60 credit hours or less than the equivalent of half the coursework applicable toward the degree, they are required to follow the College and program requirements established in the academic catalog for their new admit term.

Students must consult with the Registrar when they are readmitted to determine which of these catalog options are available to them.
