BIO 115 Principles of Cellular Biology

An introduction to the fundamental principles and concepts of cellular biology in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Topics include cellular ultrastructure and physiology; basic biochemistry of the cell; bioenergetics; photosynthesis; nuclear and cell division; and Mendelian genetics. Laboratory work supplements and expands lecture topics, and deals with cellular organization and function as well as biochemical and physiological processes. An emphasis is placed on collection, analysis, and presentation of data. Intended for students majoring in the natural sciences, pre- health sciences, or psychological sciences and for non-majors who want or need a more challenging introductory course in biology.
